The Theatre studio at the Youth center – Haskovo has three formations – “Pinokio”, “Harlequine”, “Melpomena” and “The Theatre behind the market”. It works with children and young people who love theatre and want to make the stage their favorite place. The participants get to know bulgarian and world dramaturgy, learn actor’s skills and have their personal repertoire of poems, fables, monologues, prose work passages, sketches. Basic aims in the studio are: different ways of communication, mastered stage behavior, meetings with audience, theatre experience exchange, participation in festivals and projects. Some bright titles from our repertoire are “Women’s kingdom” by St. L. Kostov, “The holiday of feeling” – poetical performance of world love lyric poetry, “I’m not like them”, “Countrymen” and “A la minute” – three version of a story based performance by Chudomir, poetical performance of poems by Robert Burns, “Teenager stories” – author’s performance, “For a piece of love” – poetical performance”, “Fairy tale stories” by Ran Bosilek, “We play theatre”, “The misunderstood civilization” by Dobri Voinikov, “The land-lady” by Carlo Goldony, “The happy prince” by Oscar Wilde, “Much Ado About Nothing” by Charles and Mary Lamb, “Fairy Tail Is Life” – author’s performance. Now we are working on “Hamlet Today”, “Boryana” by J. Jovkov and lots of sketches, performances, poetry etc. The audience - students, adults, social centers, old man’s houses, welcomes all of our plays. Our mobile groups of children and youngsters take the challenge to be different, to play other’s roles, to put themselves in new unknown situations, not to be afraid of the stage and to convert it into an unforgettable place for expressing themselves. We are open to contacts with amateur groups from all over the world that love spending their free time playing theatre. We can realize cultural collaboration through theatre, music, dances, songs, pantomime or civil education.

The studio was established in 1992 with the groups “Pinokio” and “The theatre behind the market” and “Culture and Art”. We started with child’s plays, poetical performances and Bulgarian classical plays. Over the years the studio developed. Every season each group performs two plays and takes part in a lot of the Youth center’s activities. In the course of three years the studio had a weekly four-hour show on the radio and also a TV show, broadcasted for one year.
